Lose weight by walking and help save the world
A bold claim right? Well it’s one that can be backed up if you are prepared to put a bit of effort in. Firstly the weight loss aspect of walking is proven… just 30 minutes a day can dramatically decrease your waist size whilst improving your fitness.
What is not so clear is how losing weight like this will help save the world.
Walk for Charity – Well you are doing all that walking anyway right, or you are if you want to burn the fat. So why not combine it with making money for charity?
There are 3 major ways of doing it.
1. Take part in an existing charity walk.
Thousand take place around the country and the odds are there is one happening near you soon. So enter it, raise the sponsorship money, complete the walk and collect the money, it really is that simple!
Even better because you will be doing it with hundreds, if not thousands of others, you will have people driving you forward to complete the course, far less chance of you dropping out early.
2. Walk around the world bit by bit
Well maybe around the world is a bit ambitious, but certainly the bit by bit part can be done. Set yourself an ambitious target of X amount of miles to do in a month, by a pedometer and get counting each day. The idea will be to raise as much sponsorship as you can for the amount of miles walked. By having a set goal of miles and a constant reminder of how much you have to do you can give yourself real determination to complete it that you might now otherwise get, and thats quite apart from your drive to help raise money for good causes.
3. Set up a walk yourself
Even if it is just yourself! Decide on a 10/15/20/any amount of miles that you want course and raise money for you to complete it. This is helped by not having to wait for others to organize anything and being able to get it done in a (rather tiring) day. It may hurt but it will help burn plenty of calories whilst also raising money for worthy causes. The only real work required is planning a route and raising sponsorship. Oh and walking it, but you’d do that anyway, right?
As you can see just doing something as simple as raising money for walking you would be doing as part of your weight loss regime anyway can help make a big difference to peoples lives. Choose a charity you feel strongly about, from third world hunger to cancer research, and help make a difference to peoples lives… and burn fat whilst you are at it!
